Sit less and Move More

Sit less and move more to reduce stroke risk , diabetes and obesity, .

Majority of adult spends most of their time being sedentary during the day.


Recent research suggests that by simply sitting less and moving more the risk of stroke can be reduced .


Sedentary breaks reduce blood glucose and stroke risk.

Even doing light intensity activity can reduce the risk of stroke. Go for short walks or get up from the desk and move around the house . It will make a big difference in the long run.

Simple household chores such as vacuuming, washing dishes help.


Individuals with a 4-5 hours of light activity had 56% reduced first stroke compared to those doing less than 3 hours of light activity.


The activities do not require breaking out into a sweat ,or heavy breathing or increased heart rate .


Breaking a prolonged sitting helps to also reduce adiposity and helps lose weight.


While watching a movie, at every commercial break, get up and walk around, do jumping jacks;


While talking on the phone, walk and talk, rather than sitting while talking.


If she you are going to be working at a computer all day, get a standing workstation. and take regular breaks to walk every 30 minutes or so.
